LIV-EX - MARKET UPDATE
In February the Liv-ex 100 Index saw its biggest increase in over a year, gaining 1.2% to close on 243.7. Although it has seen fluctuations over the past year, it is now up 4.1% since the market’s low in July 2014.
The Liv-ex Fine Wine 50 Index gained 0.9% last month to close on 271.49.Several of February’s biggest risers and fallers made up for gains or losses seen in previous months. The three Champagne climbers gained after dipping in January, while Ausone 2000 tumbled after increasing by 17.1% in December.
The top mover within the index was the “sensational” (Robert Parker) 97+ point Pichon Baron 2010, which gained 8.5%. Mouton Rothschild 2000 has also been making steady gains. Its mid-price increased by 7.7% in February and it traded on the market at £12,900 per 12×75, its highest ever trade price.02 March 2016.
