On the 13th of June 2023, we have seen the release of Chateau Lynch Bages.

On the 13th June 2023, we now see the release of the fifth growth wine from Pauillac named Lynch Bages, and the price is up 17.3% on last years release. The ex negociant price is 105.60 Euro a bottle. The wine is being offered by the international trade for £1,280.00 per case of 12 bottles at 75cl each according to Liv-ex, and this will result in an increase of 20.8% on the opening price of the 2021's.

Fair Value analysis


Using Liv-ex’s ‘Fair Value’ methodology, prices for Château Lynch-Bages are 51% correlated to Neal Martin scores. Lynch-Bages also shows a correlation with Wine Advocate scores; members on Silver packages and above can explore this using the Fair Value Tool.


Buyers looking for other opportunities might want to consider the 2019 vintage. With 97 points from Neal Martin and 100 points from Jeb Dunnuck, it is available at a 15.9% discount to today’s release.


The 96-point 2020 and 95-point 2021 vintages both fall below the line and are available at discounts of 22.0% and 27.5% respectively to today’s release.


The lower-scoring 2017 vintage also looks attractive; it is available at a 31.7% discount to the 2022.


Critics’ scores


Neal Martin (Vinous) gave the wine a score of 95-97 points. He notes that the wine ‘will need its barrel maturation to fully knit together and it is going to be a Pauillac for the long haul’.


James Suckling gave it a barrel range of 98-99 points. In his tasting note, he said it was ‘full-bodied with beautifully integrated tannins that melt into the wine’. He added that it is ‘a fantastic wine for the cellar’.


William Kelley (Wine Advocate) scored the wine 93-96 points noting ‘the 2022 has the makings of another success for this address’.
