On the 21st of June 2023, we have seen the release of Chateau Troplong Mondot.

On the 21st June 2023, we now see the release of the Premier Cru Classe wine from Saint-Emilion named Troplong Mondot, and the price is up 41.7% on last years release. The ex negociant price is 102 Euro a bottle. The wine is being offered by the international trade for £1,224.00 per case of 12 bottles at 75cl each according to Liv-ex, and this will result in an increase of 43.7% on the opening price of the 2021's.

The new release is both the highest-scoring and the most expensive vintage of the past decade. The 2018, 2019 and 2020 vintages look better value in relation to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.

Fair Value analysis

At £1,224 per 12×75 for the new release, buyers looking for value might want to consider back vintages of Troplong Mondot. That said, the 2022 is the highest-scoring vintage of the last decade, so buyers may be interested in securing It.

The 2018 vintage, which is available at £720 per 12×75, a 41.2% discount to today’s release, was rated 95 points by Neal Martin.

The 2019 and 2020 vintages also look attractive; both were scored 95 points by the critic and are available at a 33.0% discount to today’s release.

Critics’ scores

Neal Martin (Vinous) gave the wine a score of 96-98 points. He said in his tasting note that he discussed his previous scores with the estate director Aymeric de Gironde. Martin states: ‘I always said that he would get better and better during his tenure and this is clearly the case in 2022, the best Troplong Mondot…so far’.

Jane Anson awarded the wine a score of 98 points and praised its ‘expert construction’.

James Suckling gave the wine a score of 97-98 points and called it ‘beautiful already’.
